PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felix Dakat (ranked 1894 p4p, 2927 weight class) and Akira Kawasaki (ranked 192 p4p, 277 weight class). Dakat comes to the cage accompanied by Right On- Showcore. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felix Dakat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Akira Kawasaki!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dakat has Kawasaki up against the cage in a clinch.
Dakat definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kawasaki misses with a hook to the ribs.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Kawasaki looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dakat misses with a punch on the inside.
Kawasaki is trying to force a seperation but Dakat has the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kawasaki fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Kawasaki trying to control the position but instead, Dakat has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kawasaki into the cage.

Dakat has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kawasaki is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kawasaki wants to break free but Dakat has control.

A frustrated look appears on Kawasaki's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kawasaki pushes Dakat back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kawasaki has had enough of the clinch but Dakat keeps him there for the moment.

Dakat tries to pull guard but Kawasaki holds him up against the cage and eventually Dakat drops back down to his feet.
Kawasaki wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dakat has him pressed against the cage.

Kawasaki misses with some punches.
Kawasaki tries to break the clinch but Dakat is controlling the position.
Dakat has Kawasaki pressed against the cage, preventing Kawasaki from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kawasaki has had enough of the clinch but Dakat keeps him there for the moment.
Dakat tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Kawasaki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dakat tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kawasaki was well out of range. Poor timing from Dakat.
Felix Dakat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dakat throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dakat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dakat takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kawasaki takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kawasaki misses with a straight right.
Dakat uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kawasaki.
Dakat lands a right hook to the body.
Dakat goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Kawasaki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dakat jabs at Kawasaki's body.
Kawasaki loads up on a big right hand but Dakat slips the punch.
Kawasaki misses with an uppercut.
Kawasaki moves away from the strike by Dakat.
Dakat connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kawasaki's hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dakat throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kawasaki sees it coming and avoids it easily.
As Dakat backs off Kawasaki throws a huge counter combo but Dakat manages to avoid it all.
Kawasaki uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dakat.
It seemed like Kawasaki was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Kawasaki throws a series of punches but Dakat avoids them all with ease.
Kawasaki swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dakat counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dakat works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A big left from Kawasaki misses.
Dakat throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kawasaki sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A jab from Kawasaki finds it's way through Dakat's defenses.
Dakat feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kawasakis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A jab lands there for Kawasaki.
Dakat looks to throw the jab but Kawasaki is out of range.
Kawasaki misses with an uppercut
and Dakat counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kawasaki thinking.
Dakat shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Dakat misses with a hook
letting Kawasaki counter with a right hand.
Kawasaki getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Dakat thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kawasaki swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Dakat dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dakat wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Dakat fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kawasaki, pushing him back against the cage.
Dakat is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kawasaki can do to turn this around?

Dakat scores with a sloppy right hand. Kawasaki should have avoided that one.
Kawasaki ducks under a wild hook from Dakat.
Kawasaki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kawasaki thuds a left hand into Dakat's body.
Kawasaki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dakat is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kawasaki looks calm but he's in trouble here. Dakat gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kawasaki is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Dakat lets go of the hold and Kawasaki can pop his arm back in it's socket.
