The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bruinbrood.
Bruinbrood tries to clinch but Rivera moves out of range.
Bruinbrood throws a series of punches but Rivera moves out of range.
Rivera tried to score with a low kick but Bruinbrood checks it.

Rivera's coach down at Cherokees Island Elite Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rivera's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Bruinbrood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.

Bruinbrood forces Rivera back against the cage and clinches.
Rivera keeps control of Bruinbrood as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Bruinbrood wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rivera has him pressed against the cage.
Bruinbrood looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Rivera escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rivera throws a nice looking combination but Bruinbrood bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Oooooh!!! Rivera has knocked Bruinbrood down with a huge combo! Rivera steps away and waves a wobbly Bruinbrood back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bruinbrood throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rivera, as that shot connected.

Rivera takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

A nice leg kick lands there from Rivera.
Rivera fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Rivera throws a shot from downtown. Bruinbrood moves away and avoids it.

Rivera is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bruinbrood had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Rivera throws a right hand that Bruinbrood ducks under and follows up with a left that Bruinbrood also avoids with ease.

Bruinbrood goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bruinbrood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.
Rivera stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Sakkie Bruinbrood's cut is getting worse.

Rivera sends Bruinbrood crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rivera is motioning to the referee to let Bruinbrood up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Bruinbrood is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
