Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tarlan Magomedov (ranked 3428 p4p, 3421 weight class) and Tyler Jones (ranked 378 p4p, 377 weight class). The key to victory for Tarlan Magomedov has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magomedov shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Magomedov throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Magomedov's guard. Nice move by Jones!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Magomedov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Magomedov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Magomedov!

Magomedov tries to advance position but instead Jones slips a leg back in to half guard.

Jones moves into full guard.
Magomedov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Magomedov.
Magomedov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Magomedov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.

Magomedov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

Jones pulls Magomedov in close to his closed guard and prevents Magomedov from doing any damage or advancing position.

Magomedov has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Magomedov's guard.

Magomedov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jones dives into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's time! Magomedov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Magomedov pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Magomedov dives in and scores a takedown into Jones's guard.

Magomedov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Magomedov, into his guard.

Magomedov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Magomedov wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.

Jones is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Magomedov is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Jones has latched onto it... Big trouble! Jones pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Magomedov is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Jones!
