The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzwater ducks down and throws a hook to the body but VanKamp moves away.

Fitzwater drives through and clinches with VanKamp against the cage.
VanKamp managing to block the knees to the body from Fitzwater.
Fitzwater throws a knee to the head but misses.

Fitzwater pulls VanKamp in close to prevent any damage.
Fitzwater definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Fitzwater is trying to drag VanKamp to the mat but VanKamp just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Fitzwater is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

VanKamp tries to roll over but Fitzwater keeps him under control.
Fitzwater uses his free foot to push down on VanKamp's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for VanKamp.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fitzwater is working for a guillotine from mount but VanKamp frees his head quite easily.

VanKamp leaves Fitzwater with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fitzwater throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around VanKamp's waist but VanKamp gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fitzwater off to one side.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Fitzwater is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. VanKamp can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
VanKamp is desperately trying to improve his position but Fitzwater has a good base and remains in mount.
Fitzwater throws some wild stikes that VanKamp manages to avoid easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fitzwater changes levels and goes for a takedown here. VanKamp fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitzwater enables VanKamp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitzwater manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fitzwater pushes VanKamp off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
