And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 17 losses; Julián Cicerón! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Cicerón shoots in for a takedown but Sulvar shows good takedown defense. Cicerón looks for a takedown but Sulvar sprawls well. Cicerón gets a double leg takedown into Sulvar's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Sulvar (0) vs (2) Cicerón Cicerón stays in close to Sulvar's body and controls the position. Sulvar pulls Cicerón in to control the position. Sulvar has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cicerón trying to control but Sulvar is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cicerón sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sulvar is pulling down on Cicerón's head. It's preventing any offense from Cicerón, at least for the moment. Cicerón stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sulvar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sulvar being controlled here, momentarily. It looks like Cicerón might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Sulvar working a defensive guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sulvar keeping full guard, as Cicerón tries to pass. Sulvar controlling Cicerón's posture. Cicerón's corner is telling him to maintain position. Cicerón must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cicerón slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. That's four minutes gone in the round. Cicerón working away. Cicerón trying to control the position but Sulvar is working away. Cicerón takes a little break here. Sulvar wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Cicerón trying to control the action but Sulvar is working from the bottom. Cicerón content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Sulvar struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. You can see the frustration on Sulvar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sulvar is not content to let Cicerón control the position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Cicerón controlling the position from side mount. Cicerón's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Cicerón has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Sulvar is trying to control Cicerón's posture but Cicerón avoids it. Cicerón controlling the position.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Cicerón trying to control the action but Sulvar is working from the bottom. Cicerón is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Cicerón is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sulvar has escaped the position, nice work there. Sulvar can't do much from the bottom here. Sulvar tries to improve position but can't. Cicerón is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sulvar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. More stalling from Cicerón. Sulvar keeping his opponent close.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sulvar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sulvar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cicerón is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. A lull in the action here. Sulvar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Cicerón goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sulvar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cicerón but great work by Sulvar. Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Sulvar (4) vs (5) Cicerón Cicerón is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Sulvar is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Sulvar (6) vs (5) Cicerón Cicerón tries to get back to half guard but can't. Sulvar wants to control the pace but Cicerón is squirming around nicely. Sulvar prevents Cicerón from getting the reversal. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sulvar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
