Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jørgen Thrane (ranked 2267 p4p, 2706 weight class) and Akira Maeda (ranked 299 p4p, 339 weight class). Jørgen Thrane has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jørgen Thrane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 1, fighting out of London, Akira Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maeda swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've been told by Thrane's head coaches at Gumburcules Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Maeda fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thrane avoids it really well and circles away.
Akira Maeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Thrane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Maeda throws a looping overhand right but Thrane ducks down to avoid it.

It seemed like Maeda was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Thrane looks to land a left hand but Maeda moved out of range nicely.
Maeda let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Thrane throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Maeda on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thrane connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Maeda catches Thrane with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Maeda throws a good cross that connects.

Maeda throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thrane stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Thrane might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Akira Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maeda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
