Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Meredith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meredith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Four Kicks. Rocky Serra struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The key to victory for Chris Meredith has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Meredith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rocky Serra! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Serra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Meredith tries to roll over but Serra keeps him under control. Still in half guard, Serra seems content to control. Meredith tries to roll over but Serra keeps him under control. Serra seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Meredith regains full guard. Nicely done. Meredith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Serra must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Meredith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Serra's guard. Serra controlling Meredith's posture. Serra is looking to stand up but Meredith isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meredith looking to pass the guard. Serra trying to keep a closed guard but Meredith is proving a slippery customer.
Meredith wants to control from the top but Serra keeps moving. Serra had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Meredith is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Serra Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Meredith's back instead. Meredith trying to get back to his feet but Serra is in full control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Meredith breaks Serra's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Serra looks gassed! Serra can't keep his opponent in guard - Meredith advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Still in half guard, Meredith seems content to control. Serra is defending against the submission attempts here by Meredith.
Meredith looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Meredith wants to pass to mount but Serra is defending the position. Serra is refusing to be controlled, as Meredith sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Serra is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Meredith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Meredith's back! You can see the frustration on Meredith's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Meredith is working hard here to advance position. Serra not allowing Meredith to control his hands. Serra is punishing Meredith with strikes - can he finish him?! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Serra throwing wild punches that miss their target. Meredith tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Serra working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Serra controlling the pace for now. Meredith wants to control but Serra is having none of it. Meredith throwing hammer fists to the chest of Serra. What's that going to do exactly? Meredith working to try and regain half guard.
Meredith tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Serra has taken his back. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Meredith is really stuck here.
Serra is trying to stick to Meredith's back but Meredith is turning into Serra. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Serra's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Meredith. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Rocky Serra will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Meredith doesn't manage to clinch there - Serra circles away.
Serra shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Serra showed some decent athleticism there. Meredith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Meredith. Meredith keeping full guard, as Serra tries to pass. Serra won't allow Meredith to sweep him here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Meredith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Serra! Serra is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meredith controlling from mount. Meredith with the ground and pound from mount. BOOM! Meredith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Meredith lands with some strikes. Meredith is working for a guillotine from mount but Serra frees his head quite easily.
Serra is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meredith controlling his opponent. Meredith prevents Serra from getting the reversal. Meredith is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Serra is surviving well by controlling Meredith's body position as best he can. Meredith controlling the pace for now. Serra is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meredith is going olschool here, as he tries to force Serra to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Serra shrugs it off. Meredith swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Serra is now in Meredith's guard. A big mistake from Meredith there, giving up the dominant position! Meredith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Serra passes Meredith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meredith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Serra's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Serra's back! Serra trying to control but not successfully. Meredith is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Serra with him. Serra is trying to defend but Meredith has an arm under the chin now! Serra grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Meredith!
