The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gracie gets tackled into the ropes by Virus. Virus maintains the clinch. Gracie is looking for a takedown. Gracie is working for takedown but Virus is calmly controlling the position for now. Virus drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gracie gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Virus tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gracie jumps into guard, dragging Virus to the mat.
Virus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Virus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Virus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Virus wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. Gracie controls Virus momentarily but Virus frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Virus from controlling successfully. Virus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Virus postures up.
Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Virus is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Virus is fighting to break Gracie's control of his arms but Gracie is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Virus not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gracie wants to sweep here but Virus controlling him for the moment. Virus wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. Virus tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Virus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Virus is continuing to stall. Gracie keeping full guard, as Virus tries to pass.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Virus is still trying to improve position. Virus wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving. Virus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Virus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gracie is trying to keep Virus in close.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Virus is stalling in the full guard. Virus looking to improve position, pressing down on Gracie's thigh with his hand. Gracie seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Virus paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Virus's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Gracie picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
