The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Varis.
Nuevos tests Varis's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nuevos misses with a body shot.
Varis steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nuevos.
Nuevos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Varis was well out of range. Poor timing from Nuevos.

Nuevos drives through with a takedown into Varis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Nuevos postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Nuevos distracts Varis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Nuevos working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Varis's head.
Nuevos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Varis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nuevos defends well.

Varis looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Nuevos has picked Varis up and slammed him! Varis can't keep hold of the triangle and Nuevos manages to pass to side control!
Varis is trying to work for a sweep but Nuevos has mounted him!
Varis is in all sorts of trouble here.
Nuevos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Varis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

A big strike lands for Nuevos! That's really hurt Varis and he's turned his back - Nuevos keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Nuevos jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

A less than humble Ignacio Nuevos misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
