This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 28 wins and 20 losses; Hand Solo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 13 losses; Stsyapan Chai! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Chai is looking to clinch. Solo slaps away a takedown attempt from Chai, before circling back to the center of the mat. Solo tries to counter with a takedown but Chai is quick to defend against it. Solo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chai's waist but Chai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Solo off to one side. Chai tries to clinch there but Solo circles away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Solo enables Chai to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Solo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Chai tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chai has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Chai trying to control the action but Solo is working from the bottom. Solo tries to buck Chai off but Chai is having none of it.

Chai trying to control the position but Solo is working away. Solo tries to get back to half guard but can't. The referee asks Chai politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chai prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. It looks like Chai might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Solo prevents Chai from moving into mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chai wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Solo, who protects the arm well. Solo stops Chai from passing to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Chai wins on points by 7 to 2. During a confident post fight interview, Stsyapan Chai thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. |
