This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 14 losses; Chance San! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. San moves into range and clinches up with Marlin. Marlin is pressed up against the cage. San has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marlin down to the mat. Marlin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Marlin shoots in looking for a takedown but San manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marlin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. San gets a double leg takedown into Marlin's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Marlin (0) vs (2) San My spies in The Purpose Martial Arts Academy inform me that San has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Marlin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. San trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. San being controlled here momentarily. San pushes down on Marlin's leg and manages to get into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. San is working for a kimura but Marlin is defending it quite comfortably.

Marlin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise San will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! San goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Marlin escapes and is now in half guard on top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Marlin (2) vs (11) San Marlin wants to lay and pray for a moment but San keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marlin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. San regains full guard. Nicely done. San throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Marlin escapes and throws San's legs to the side, diving into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Marlin (5) vs (11) San San is not content to let Marlin control the position. San wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Marlin has ideas of his own. He's got hold of San's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! San is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Marlin!
