Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Leary!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Blake Souza!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Hemmingworth and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Souza drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Souza wants to control from the top but Leary keeps moving.
Leary pulls Souza in close to his closed guard and prevents Souza from doing any damage or advancing position.
Souza throwing strikes from guard but Leary blocks nicely.
Souza looking to sit in guard and control but Leary gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leary's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Souza is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Souza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leary can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Souza is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Leary can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Souza lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Leary has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Leary and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Souza shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Leary but Leary pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Leary counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Souza out cold! What a finish! Leary is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

In his post fight interview, James Leary started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
