Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Polish Power (ranked 101 p4p, 473 weight class) and Roman Ship (ranked 8 p4p, 35 weight class). Power comes into the arena with Xanadu by Ummet Ozcan blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Polish Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 31 - 3, fighting out of London, Roman Ship!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Power comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Power tries to sprawl but Ship drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Ship is trying to work for a kimura but Power is defending well.
Power trying to hold on to Ship's head to control him but Ship postures up.
Power is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ship seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Power does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ship is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Power tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ship drops back, looking for a kneebar! Power looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Power looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Power!

A lull in the action here.
Power tries to advance to mount but can't.
Ship has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Ship tries to bench press Power off him but Power keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Power just content to control the position.
Power taking a break here but Ship is having none of it and regains half guard.
Ship keeping control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ship slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Power postures up.
Power pushes down on Ship's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ship is looking to control Power's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ship avoid being mounted?
Power tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ship.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ship is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Good work by Ship as he checks the leg kick.
Power thuds his right hand into Ship's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Roman Ship has been cut.
Power stuffs the takedown.
Power throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ship with the counter takedown but Power avoids it easily.
Power fails with an attempt to clinch.
Polish Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Power sizes up Ship with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Power connects with the punch.
Ship defending well as Power loads up on a big left hand.
Power looks to score with a jab to the body but Ship is just out of range.
Ship moves out of range as Power strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Polish Power dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Roman Ship's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Power moves away from the strike by Ship.

Ship clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Power - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A short uppercut from Power.
Power throws a head punch that misses.
Power swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ship letting Power take a breather here.
Power struggles to land a body shot inside as Ship controls his hands.

Ship drags the fight down to the ground.
Ship is trying to control the position but Power postures up.
Power is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ship can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Power slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ship lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Ship looking to pass the guard.
Ship pushes down on Power's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ship wants to lay and pray for a moment but Power keeps working.

Ship seems to be working for a kimura but Power defends the submission attempt.

Ship is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ship is working for a kimura but Power is defending it quite comfortably.
Power keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ship tries to pass the half guard into mount. Power knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Power has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ship is working away from the top position though.
Ship is stalling here. Power is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ship seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Power has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Power slows the pace down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Power stands up and we're back to a striking position.
A decent looking cross lands there for Power.

That has opened up Roman Ship's cut even more.
Ship ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Power moves away.
Ship misses the shot to the body.

Power sends Ship crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Power is motioning to the referee to let Ship up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

The cut above Roman Ship's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ship shoots in but Power avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Power throws a head kick but Ship moves out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ship moves out of range of the body kick.
Ship uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Power.
Polish Power is winning the standup battle so far.
Power drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Power throws out a leg kick but Ship moves out of range and Power only half commits.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Polish Power dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Roman Ship's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Ship rushes Power and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ship tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Power smiles and moves away.
Ship misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Power counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Ship is rocked!
Power connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Ship out cold! This one is over in a flash!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Polish Power!
An out of breath Polish Power thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
