PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between D.D Panda (ranked 831 p4p, 299 weight class) and Gwynn Evans (ranked 114 p4p, 42 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gwynn Evans was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, D.D Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gwynn Evans!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Panda ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Panda throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Evans counters with a slapping leg kick.
Evans throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Panda looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Panda misses with a hook.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Evans! But no joy.
Evans feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pandas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Panda jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Evans swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Panda changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Panda shoots for a takedown but Evans saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
It seemed like Evans was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Panda is looking to clinch.
Evans throws a leg kick which misses Panda's front leg but catches the back leg as Panda tries to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Evans counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Panda tries to clinch there but Evans circles away.

and Evans makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Gwynn Evans is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Evans throws the left hand but Panda avoids the punch easily.
Evans will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Evans manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Panda keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Panda is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Panda tries to pull guard but Evans holds him up against the cage and eventually Panda drops back down to his feet.

Panda is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Evans is aware though and is defending well.

Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
