And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 39 wins and 20 losses; Chad Strdoza! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Hughes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. And Strdoza tries to counter it with a takedown but Hughes pushes his down on his head and steps out. Hughes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Strdoza circles away. Hughes tries for a takedown but Strdoza circles away easily and Strdoza counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sirus Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hughes goes for a takedown attempt but Strdoza pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hughes shoots and misses and Strdoza moves into the clinch. Strdoza pulls guard. Strdoza is looking for a triangle but Hughes pushes his legs off easily.
Hughes wants to control from the top but Strdoza keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes wants to take a breather but Strdoza is having none of it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Strdoza is defending against the submission attempts here by Hughes.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hughes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Strdoza is refusing to be controlled, as Hughes sits in half guard. Strdoza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Strdoza is holding on for dear life with his legs. Strdoza regains full guard. Nicely done. Hughes trying to control the position from guard on top but Strdoza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Strdoza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hughes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Strdoza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Strdoza manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hughes manages to get himself to full guard.

Strdoza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hughes dives on top into guard.
