This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 25 losses; Red Hestler! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Abner has managed to clinch.
Hestler tries for a takedown but Abner manages to get underhooks.

Abner swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hestler is now in Abner's guard. A big mistake from Abner there, giving up the dominant position! The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Hestler passes Abner's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hestler wants to pass to mount but Abner is defending the position. Abner is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hestler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hestler's back! Hestler gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Hestler manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Hestler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Abner has his hands on Hestler's head, controlling the position. Hestler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Abner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Abner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Abner working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hestler gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Abner controlling the action here. Abner seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hestler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Abner stalling. Hestler trying to control but Abner postures up.

Score +3 for passing guard: Abner (21) vs (6) Hestler Hestler tries to reverse the position but Abner maintains control. Hestler is squirming around, avoiding Abner's attempts to control the action. Hestler tries to lock up and control but Abner gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Abner prevents Hestler from getting the reversal. Abner wants to control the pace but Hestler is squirming around nicely. Hestler is controlling an arm, preventing Abner from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
