PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liam Brown (ranked 4440 p4p, 4102 weight class) and Ryan Fritz (ranked 428 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Brown looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brown moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Ryan Fritz has been cut.
Fritz lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Brown misses with a takedown

and Fritz counters by clinching up.
Fritz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fritz lands an uppercut.
Brown jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fritz walks away with a smile on his face. Brown gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Fritz tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brown throws a series of punches but Fritz moves out of range.
Fritz is looking for the big counter here.

Brown instigates a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brown is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fritz is defending well for now.

Fritz is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Brown gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Fritz forces Brown back against the cage and clinches.

Fritz wants the takedown. Brown is fighting it off but Fritz persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Brown's guard against the cage.
Fritz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Brown is working an open guard so Fritz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fritz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat.

Fritz throws a leg kick but Brown moved away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fritz lands with a nice combination. Brown backs away looking to recover.

Fritz shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fritz instigates a clinch.

Fritz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brown uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fritz working for a triangle but Brown defends it easily.
Fritz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.

Fritz postures up in Brown's guard and throws a big left but Brown blocks it.

Fritz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fritz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fritz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brown's guard.

Fritz doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Brown will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fritz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brown defends well and Fritz ends up having to push Brown into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
As Fritz looks to move away, Brown throws a big counter combo but Fritz just gets out of the way.

Fritz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brown is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fritz but Fritz pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A short body shot lands from Fritz as the two fighters clinch.

Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fritz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fritz holds on and takes a little breather.

Fritz scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Brown takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fritz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.

Brown tries to keep at a distance but Fritz has taken the fight into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ryan Fritz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fritz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
