PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kristof Pardi (ranked 2321 p4p, 2361 weight class) and Xylon Kofel (ranked 188 p4p, 190 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pardi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Party Boy Theme. Xylon Kofel has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 2, fighting out of London, Kristof Pardi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Xylon Kofel!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pardi tries for a takedown but Kofel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kofel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pardi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kofel napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kofel seems a little lost for a moment, as Pardi dominates the positioning.
Kofel is trying to control Pardi's posture but Pardi avoids it.
A lull in the action here as Pardi stalls from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pardi is looking to take a break and control but Kofel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kofel is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pardi's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kofel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pardi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pardi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kofel wants to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kofel leaves Pardi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pardi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kristof Pardi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pardi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kofel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pardi avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Pardi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kofel throws a hook to the side of Pardi's head but Pardi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Xylon Kofel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kofel throws a right and a left that Pardi avoids nicely.
The fighters circling - Kofel throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kofel darts in looking for a takedown but Pardi gets double underhooks and turns Kofel into the cage.
Kofel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kofel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Pardi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kofel swivels and escapes.
Kofel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pardi circles away.
Pardi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kofel digs a good hook to Pardi's body.
Kofel misses with a body shot.
Kofel throws a leg kick but Pardi checks it.
Kofel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Kofel gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pardi to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pardi content to stall in guard here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pardi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kofel is keeping the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kofel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pardi manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pardi wants to sweep but no luck.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pardi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kofel sprawls well. He's pushed Pardi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kofel changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Pardi shoots in for a takedown but Kofel shows good takedown defense.

Kofel drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pardi defends it well.

Pardi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Pardi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kofel sprawls well. Kofel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pardi gets slowly back to his feet.
Pardi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kofel.

Kofel lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Pardi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kofel but Kofel pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kofel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kofel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pardi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pardi attempts a counter takedown but Kofel avoids it well and moves away.

Pardi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kofel to the mat! Kofel manages to get full guard.
Kofel pulls Pardi in close to his closed guard and prevents Pardi from doing any damage or advancing position.

Pardi pushes down on Kofel's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Pardi is thwarting Kofel's attempts to control the position.
Kofel wants to improve his position but Pardi is controlling well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pardi is stalling here. Kofel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pardi seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kofel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Pardi is trying to work for a sweep but Kofel has mounted him!
Pardi is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at London MMA Club, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Kofel moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pardi has worked his arm free - good work by Pardi!

Pardi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kofel passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pardi!

Kofel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kofel wants to control the pace but Pardi is squirming around nicely.
Kofel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pardi wants to hold on but Kofel pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xylon Kofel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Pardi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kristof Pardi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kofel throws a body shot but no joy.
Pardi walks into a stiff left hand from Kofel.
Kofel misses with a straight left.
Pardi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kofel misses with a takedown attempt - Pardi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Xylon Kofel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pardi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pardi shoots in for a double leg but Kofel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kofel feints a counter leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kofel, as that shot connected.

Kofel circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kofel shoots in and drives through. Pardi sprawls well.
Pardi has a takedown stuffed.
Kofel changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nice straight punches there by Kofel. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kofel.

Kofel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kofel keeps the fight on the outside.
Pardi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kofel as he jumps to the side.

Kofel ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Pardi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Kofel is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pardi pulls his head out easily.

Pardi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kofel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pardi is taking a breather. Kofel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kofel won't allow Pardi to pass to mount.

Kofel actively working from the bottom here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pardi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kofel!
Kofel manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Pardi not doing much here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pardi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Xylon Kofel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kofel winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
