PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Golgota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Golgota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Killer!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Killer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Golgota keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Andrew Golgota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Killer.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Golgota has hold of one of Killer's legs. Killer is fighting the takedown attempt but Golgota gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Golgota not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Killer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Killer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Golgota is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Killer is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Killer keeping busy on the bottom but Golgota has passed one foot through into half guard.
Golgota seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Killer regains full guard. Nicely done.

Killer is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Killer tries to pull guard but Golgota won't allow it.

Killer jumps into guard, dragging Golgota to the mat.

Killer working for a triangle but Golgota defends it easily.
Golgota looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Killer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Golgota trying to control the position from guard on top but Killer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Killer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Golgota is one step ahead there.

Killer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Golgota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Golgota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Golgota seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Golgota's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Nice takedown defense from Killer. No joy for Golgota on that attempt.

Golgota forces Killer back against the cage and clinches.
Killer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Golgota gets underhooks to prevent Killer's takedown attempt.
Killer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Golgota gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Killer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Golgota pulls guard successfully.
Killer slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Golgota tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Killer tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Killer in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Golgota knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Killer on the ground.

Killer advances to full mount.
Killer is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Killer trying to control but Golgota is having none of it.

Killer is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Killer has his takedown stuffed

and Golgota counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killer won't be happy with that.

Killer tries to buck Golgota off but Golgota is having none of it.
Killer manages to work his way to half guard, despite Golgota's best efforts.
Killer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Golgota's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Golgota's back!
Killer is not going to allow Golgota to sit and survive in this position.
Golgota manages to reverse the position and now he's in Killer's guard. Nice work there by Golgota.
Golgota has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Killer is looking for a triangle but Golgota pushes his legs off easily.

Killer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Golgota can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Golgota is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Killer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Killer is looking for a triangle here but Golgota uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Killer is looking for a sweep.
Golgota wants to lay and pray for a moment but Killer keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Killer is trying to get back to half guard.
Killer is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Killer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Killer looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Golgota wants to control but Killer is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Andrew Golgota will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Golgota is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Killer has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Golgota is looking to defend but Killer has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Golgota! Killer pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Golgota taps out and this one is all over!
