Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ante Novak (ranked 5051 p4p, 22914 weight class) and Amarillo Brillo (ranked 467 p4p, 509 weight class). Ante Novak has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ante Novak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Amarillo Brillo! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Novak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Novak fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Brillo scores with a nice head shot. Novak steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Brillo. And Novak counters with a quick kick to the body but Brillo blocks it. Novak throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brillo was covering up waiting for the punch and Novak finishes the takedown easily into guard. Brillo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Novak works over Brillo with some ground and pound from guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Novak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brillo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brillo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Nice strikes from Brillo there. Brillo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Brillo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Brillo passes to side control. Brillo working the head and body with strikes. Brillo throwing shots but missing, from side control. Brillo tries to score with some ground and pound. Novak controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Brillo lands a nice forearm strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brillo throws an elbow but Novak slips to the side and avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Novak takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Brillo looks up at the clock and then as Novak takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brillo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Brillo is working Novak over with some ground and pound from side control. Brillo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Novak down.
Brillo is chipping away with strikes.

Brillo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Novak sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Sloppy strikes there by Brillo.

Novak defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Brillo lands a couple of good shots and Novak has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Novak tries to escape the position.
Brillo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Brillo somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Brillo throwing sloppy strikes. Novak covering up well under a barage of strikes. Novak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brillo on the ground. Brillo scores with punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Oooh a big shot gets through from Brillo. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Brillo somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Brillo lands punches and elbows. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Brillo is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Novak with him. Novak is trying to defend but Brillo has an arm under the chin now! Novak grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Amarillo Brillo!
