Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Chugman (ranked 1090 p4p, 1371 weight class) and Lars Kay (ranked 77 p4p, 98 weight class). Lars Kay is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 52 - 49 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lars Kay!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kay uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chugman.
Kay lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A big right from Kay misses.
Kay lands with a cross.
A big left from Kay misses.
Kay bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chugman's head backwards.
Chugman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Chugman seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kay throws a body punch but Chugman moves out of range.
Chugman misses with a body shot.
Chugman tries to clinch up but Kay circles away and keeps his distance.
Kay scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lars Kay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kay has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Kay wants to control but Chugman is keeping him busy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kay connects with a nice short shot to Chugman's temple.
Kay lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kay slips a nice elbow through Chugman's hands, connecting with Chugman's forehead.

Chugman is trying to control but can't.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chugman wants to free his trapped foot but Kay is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kay regains half guard there - taking advantage of Chugman's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Chugman is taking a breather. Kay says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Chugman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kay for as long as he can get away with.
Kay wants to control but Chugman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Chugman throws a looping overhand right but Kay ducks down to avoid it.
Kay tries to clinch but Chugman is having none of it.
Chugman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kay is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kay throws a hook but Chugman avoids it easily.
Kay lands with a straight right. Chugman didn't see that one coming.
Kay looks to throw the jab but Chugman is out of range.
Chugman takes a swing at Kay's ribcage but misses.

Kay manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Chugman on his heels. He'll look to pass Chugman's guard now, I'm sure.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kay might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kay smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Chugman throws a jab when Kay was well out of range.
Kay shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chugman but Chugman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kay throws a body shot but no joy.
Kay connects with the punch.

Chugman takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Chugman swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kay fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chugman to the ground. Kay is now in Chugman's guard.
Kay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Chugman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kay connects with a couple of short punches.

Kay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chugman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
