Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Karter (ranked 791 p4p, 988 weight class) and Roman Ship (ranked 46 p4p, 56 weight class). Roman Ship has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lamar Karter's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lamar Karter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 33 - 3, fighting out of London, Roman Ship! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ship shoots in but Karter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Karter misses the shot to the body. Ship closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Karter's guard. Ship drops back looking for a leg! Karter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karter manages to kick Ship off! Ship jumps back into Karter's guard. Ship pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Karter is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ship trying to control but Karter is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ship drops back looking for a leg! Karter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karter manages to kick Ship off! Ship jumps back into Karter's guard. Karter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Karter is really struggling to control Ship but he's trying to hold on to the position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ship's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Ship looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Karter is fending him off so far but Ship persists. Nope, Karter circles away and we're back to standing. Karter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ship.
Karter is looking to counter punch. A jab from Karter misses. Ship drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Karter defends it well. Karter swings away with a leg kick that misses. Ship looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Karter is fending him off so far but Ship persists. Nope, Karter circles away and we're back to standing. Lamar Karter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Ship. Ship gets a clinch. Karter's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
It looks like Lamar Karter has been cut. Karter wants to break the clinch but can't.
Karter unloads a knee to the mid-section. Karter throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ship blocks it with crossed arms.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karter breaks from the clinch.
Ship avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Ship feints the counter takedown. Nice defenses there by Karter. Karter scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Ship just misses with a punch to the body.
Ship's corner calls for a 1-2. Ship obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Roman Ship seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Karter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Roman Ship has been cut. Karter throws a head kick that misses. Lamar Karter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ship shoots for a double leg takedown but Karter sprawls well. He's pushed Ship's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've been told by Karter's head coaches at Tran MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ship smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Ship scores with the left hand. Karter knows he should have avoided that one. Ship tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karter swats him away and circles back towards the center. Karter thinks about countering with a body kick. Karter lands a slapping body shot.
Karter swings for the body but Ship moves out of range.
Ship drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Karter defends it well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ship jabbing away but nothing is landing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ship misses with a shot to the body and Karter counters with a straight right hand. Ship shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Karter pinned against the cage. Karter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lamar Karter will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The fighters circling - Karter throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A low kick from Karter is predictable there and Ship counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Karter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ship on the ground. Ship controlling from the top position. Karter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ship drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Ship seems to have locked his on tight now - Karter screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ship, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Roman Ship! During a confident post fight interview, Roman Ship thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
