Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcel Thibodeaux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sheikh Mahmut!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thibodeaux pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mahmut is out of range and Thibodeaux settles back down.
Mahmut looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Thibodeaux lands with a good body shot.
Mahmut misses with a lunging right hand
letting Thibodeaux counter with a right hand.
It looks like Sheikh Mahmut has been cut.
Mahmut missing with a left hand there. Thibodeaux was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mahmut throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thibodeaux looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mahmut misses with a straight left.
Mahmut doesn't manage to clinch there - Thibodeaux circles away.
Mahmut lands with a straight right. Thibodeaux didn't see that one coming.
Thibodeaux ducks under a wild hook from Mahmut.
Mahmut misses with an uppercut.
Thibodeaux swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Mahmut throws a combination that misses
enabling Thibodeaux to counter with a crisp jab.
Mahmut tries to close the distance and clinch but Thibodeaux swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Thibodeaux throws a counter high kick but Mahmut was just alert enough to avoid it.
Mahmut throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mahmut throws a poor cross that misses
and Thibodeaux counters with a nice right hand that sends Mahmut toppling to the canvas! Mahmut scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Thibodeaux finish him?!
Mahmut is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mahmut walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Mahmut limp body while Thibodeaux jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marcel Thibodeaux!
A relieved looking Marcel Thibodeaux thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
