PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cameron McNab (ranked 1809 p4p, 2120 weight class) and Bjorn Haelfson (ranked 248 p4p, 292 weight class). Haelfson has chosen 80/20SKYBEEF as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cameron McNab!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bjorn Haelfson!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haelfson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McNab definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

McNab closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Haelfson quickly recovers to half guard.
Still in half guard, McNab seems content to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McNab is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McNab stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Haelfson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Haelfson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McNab can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McNab postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Haelfson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McNab gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Haelfson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McNab is aware though and is defending well.
McNab has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McNab content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
McNab distracts Haelfson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McNab wants to pass the guard but Haelfson is keeping the position.
McNab makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Haelfson is on top in guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Haelfson looks for a takedown but McNab sprawls well.
Haelfson shoots in looking for a takedown. McNab tries to sprawl out of it but Haelfson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McNab manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

McNab is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Haelfson can do to turn this around?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McNab connects with a nice short shot to Haelfson's temple.
Haelfson is not content to let McNab control the position.

McNab seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well McNab has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
