Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kwame Shikongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Malo Tavara!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Tavara closes the distance but Shikongo moves to the side
and Shikongo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tavara tries to clinch but Shikongo moves out of range.
Shikongo is looking to counter punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shikongo rushes Tavara and presses him up against the cage.
Shikongo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Tavara escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shikongo has closed the distance and engaged Tavara in a clinch.
Tavara pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shikongo pushes Tavara up against the cage in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tavara breaks from the clinch.
Tavara tries to clinch up but Shikongo circles away and keeps his distance.
A quick step to the side and Shikongo tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shikongo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tavara, pushing him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tavara breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shikongo circles away from the clinch attempt
and Shikongo counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Tavara is lucky that one didn't land flush.
And that's the end of the fight!
Kwame Shikongo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shikongo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
