The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Gardener keeps the fight on the outside.

Everett tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gardener just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gardener in particular looking to stall.

Everett felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Gardener is really struggling to control Everett but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Everett is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gardener throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Everett's body to avoid the submission. Everett has instead reached around Gardener's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Everett arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Filmore Everett!
