Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Soda Popinski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Goat Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to land a front kick but Popinski steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Popinski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones misses with a low kick.
It looked like Popinski wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Popinski looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Popinski slips under a jab from Jones.
Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jones dives in and grabs Popinski's left leg, looking for a takedown. Popinski pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Popinski avoids a kick to the body.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Popinski napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Popinski wants to control but Jones postures up.
The strikes coming from Jones are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Jones misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Jones tries for a kimura but Popinski is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Popinski works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Popinski is concentrating on defense, preventing Jones from advancing position.
Popinski keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Popinski tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Popinski is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jones throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Popinski to regain full guard.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Popinski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Popinski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Popinski wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Popinski has wrist control.
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Popinski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Popinski postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Popinski preventing the sweep.
Jones controls Popinski momentarily but Popinski frees himself.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet.

Jones working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Popinski has passed into half guard!
Popinski wants to stand up but Jones is controlling the position.
Popinski content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Popinski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Popinski is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Popinski feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Popinski circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Soda Popinski will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Popinski checks the leg kick nicely there.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Popinski sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A jab lands there for Popinski.
Popinski scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones staying out of range there.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.

Popinski lands a big right hand that sends Jones crashing to the mat! Popinski stays standing though and waves Jones back to his feet!

Jones is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Popinski walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Jones drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Popinski swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Jones's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Soda Popinski!

During a confident post fight interview, Soda Popinski thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
