Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Lauzier (ranked 1237 p4p, 1010 weight class) and Francesco Monroe (ranked 152 p4p, 133 weight class). Francesco Monroe struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lauzier slips a jab from Monroe.
Lauzier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Monroe is fending him off so far but Lauzier persists. Nope, Monroe circles away and we're back to standing.

Lauzier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Monroe can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Monroe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lauzier's guard.
Lauzier is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lauzier fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Monroe on the side of the head.
Monroe throws a hook but Lauzier avoids it easily.
Lauzier goes for a double leg but Monroe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Monroe continues to drive forward.

Lauzier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monroe ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Lauzier's jaw. Lauzier's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Monroe does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
