Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erick Colonel (ranked 3486 p4p, 3353 weight class) and Midweight Try (ranked 405 p4p, 396 weight class). Try has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Midweight Try has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Erick Colonel's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erick Colonel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Midweight Try!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colonel gets a clinch.

Colonel is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Colonel gets to his feet - Try follows without any prompting.
Try waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Colonel.
No luck for Colonel with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Try can do anything to dispel that myth.
Colonel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Try for as long as he can get away with.

Colonel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Colonel takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Try counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Colonel drives through and clinches with Try against the cage.
Try misses with some punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Try tries a knee to the head but Colonel blocks it.

Colonel avoids a wild elbow strike from Try.

Colonel manages to break the clinch.
Colonel throws a series of punches but Try avoids them all with ease.
Midweight Try seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Try throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Colonel lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Colonel darts in looking for a takedown but Try gets double underhooks and turns Colonel into the cage.
Try tries a knee to the head but Colonel blocks it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Erick Colonel will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Colonel shoots in looking for a takedown but Try manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Colonel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Try listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Colonel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Try tries to kick Colonel off in order to stand up. Colonel Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Try tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Colonel easily slips into full mount!
Try tries to hold on but Colonel pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Try is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Colonel prevents Try from getting the reversal.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Try tries to reverse the position but Colonel maintains control.

Erick Colonel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Colonel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Try tries to reverse the position but Colonel maintains control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Try keeps trying to improve his position.

Try is desperately trying to improve his position but Colonel has a good base and remains in mount.
Colonel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Colonel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Try's guard.
Try looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Colonel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Try quickly recovers to half guard.
Well, if Colonel is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've been hearing that Colonel has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Try wants to sweep but Colonel has passed to side control!

Colonel is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Try's shoulder. That is not cool.

Midweight Try seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Midweight Try is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Colonel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Try finds it's way round the side to connect with Colonel's head.
Colonel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Try is fending him off so far but Colonel persists. Nope, Try circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown attempt by Colonel or perhaps it was just good defense by Try, which made it look bad.
Try connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Colonel momentarily.
Colonel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Try can do to turn this around?
Colonel dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Try. That did some damage!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Try has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Colonel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Try wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Colonel manages to pass to side control.

Try throws a looping overhand right but Colonel ducks down to avoid it.
Try stuffs the takedown attempt from Colonel. Colonel gets slowly back to his feet.
Try throws out a counter right but Colonel avoids it with no problem.
Try misses with a straight right.
Try keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Try thows a left - swing and a miss!
Try throws a body punch but Colonel moves out of range.
Try throws out a loose jab but Colonel uses good head movement to avoid it.

Colonel throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Try tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Colonel is in Try's guard.

Midweight Try has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Erick Colonel.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Colonel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
