The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shain bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Smith's head backwards.

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Shain tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Shain throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.

Shain swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Shain sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shain.
No joy there for Shain, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mello Shain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shain's waist but Shain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shain is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Shain circles away and we're back to standing.

Shain goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Shain is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!

Shain is working for a rear naked choke. Smith is not defending it well and Shain has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Smith refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Smith's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
