PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Akira Kaburagi (ranked 1585 p4p, 915 weight class) and Von Kaiser (ranked 157 p4p, 91 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kaiser's choice of entrance music: Punch Out Theme. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Von Kaiser!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaburagi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kaiser slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kaiser wants to sweep here but Kaburagi controlling him for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kaburagi wants to pass the guard but Kaiser is keeping the position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kaiser avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kaburagi wants to pass the guard but Kaiser is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kaiser has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Kaburagi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kaiser.
Kaiser throws a shot from downtown. Kaburagi moves away and avoids it.
Kaiser keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kaburagi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like Akira Kaburagi has been cut.
Von Kaiser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kaburagi takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kaburagi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kaiser throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kaburagi tries to counter with a takedown but Kaiser is quick to defend against it.

Kaiser leaves Kaburagi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kaiser gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kaburagi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kaburagi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kaiser is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kaburagi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kaburagi's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kaiser is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kaburagi is defending well though. Kaiser let's go of the attempt for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kaburagi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kaiser regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kaiser is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kaburagi has his hands clasped together but Kaiser extends and breaks Kaburagi's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kaiser.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Von Kaiser!
