Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franklin Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Demian Maia!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia fails to land the takedown.
Stein throwing a counter right hand but Maia manages to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Stein. No joy for Maia on that attempt.
Maia is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stein sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Franklin Stein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Maia.
Maia shoots and misses
and Stein counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Maia thinking.

Maia manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Stein on his heels. He'll look to pass Stein's guard now, I'm sure.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maia tries to pass to full mount but Stein defends it.

Maia is working for a kimura but Stein is defending it quite comfortably.
Stein regains full guard. Nicely done.
Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stein swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Maia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Maia tries to free his leg and advance position but Stein is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

It looks like Demian Maia has been cut.

Stein is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stein moves nicely into side control.

Stein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maia is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stein off and has taken his back!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Franklin Stein will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Stein stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stein wants it to stay on the feet.

Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Stein tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Stein sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Stein counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Maia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stein defends well and Maia ends up having to push Stein into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Maia doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Stein counters with a crisp right that sends Maia to the canvas! Stein follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Franklin Stein!
