Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Keith Rockefeller (ranked 4065 p4p, 4329 weight class) and Geovanni Maldonado (ranked 492 p4p, 513 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Keith Rockefeller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Geovanni Maldonado!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado slips under a jab.
Rockefeller connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Maldonado dodges the punch combination from Rockefeller.
Maldonado is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
The crowd cheers as Rockefeller lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maldonado doesn't seem phased though.
Maldonado looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Good standup being displayed there by Maldonado as he connects with a hook.
Maldonado lands with a thumping leg kick.
Maldonado closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Maldonado manages to break the clinch.
A swing and a miss from Rockefeller.
Maldonado looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Maldonado rushes Rockefeller and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maldonado escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rockefeller missing with a left hand there. Maldonado was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Maldonado swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Rockefeller lands a jab to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rockefeller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Maldonado.
Rockefeller throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maldonado fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rockefeller, pushing him back against the cage.
Rockefeller tries to circle away but Maldonado has him pinned against the cage.
Maldonado scores with a nice hook to the head.
Maldonado lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Maldonado lands with a light punch inside.
Rockefeller is rocked!
Maldonado lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Rockefeller to his knees! Maldonado keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Geovanni Maldonado!
