Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takashi Asai (ranked 4100 p4p, 4087 weight class) and Junji Matsumoto (ranked 423 p4p, 422 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takashi Asai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Junji Matsumoto! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Asai. Those never looked like landing. Matsumoto takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Matsumoto gets in close and instigates a clinch. Asai has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Matsumoto is trying to keep an underhook but Asai manages to get the takedown into half guard. Matsumoto is staying active underneath Asai, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Asai trying to control the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Asai stops Matsumoto from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Asai looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matsumoto works his way to full guard. Good work. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Asai's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsumoto trying to keep a closed guard but Asai is proving a slippery customer.
Matsumoto has his hands on Asai's head, controlling the position. Matsumoto is working an open guard so Asai takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Matsumoto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Asai circles away from the clinch attempt and Asai counters with a left and a right that stings Matsumoto. Asai works Matsumoto's body with a nice hook. Nice jab there from Matsumoto.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Asai misses with a low kick.
Asai pushes Matsumoto up against the cage in a clinch. Matsumoto tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Asai drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Asai ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Asai no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Matsumoto won't allow Asai to get back to his feet. Asai pulls Matsumoto in close to his closed guard and prevents Matsumoto from doing any damage or advancing position. Matsumoto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Asai is keeping the position for now.
And that's the end of the fight! Takashi Asai showed his dominance in that final round. I think Asai has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
