PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tai Wong (ranked 4174 p4p, 4073 weight class) and Randy Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tai Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Clark!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Clark counter with a right hand.
Wong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Clark moves into the clinch.
Clark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wong creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Wong prevents the takedown attempt.
Wong is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Clark to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clark breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wong closes the distance looking to clinch
and Clark counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Clark gets tackled into the cage by Wong. Wong maintains the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wong tries to work over Clark's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wong tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Clark's elbow.

Clark pulls Wong into guard.
Clark managing to control the position.
Let's hope that Clark has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Clark manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wong manages to get himself to full guard.


Wong looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Clark has picked Wong up and slammed him! Wong can't keep hold of the triangle and Clark manages to pass to side control!

Wong struggling a bit here.

Clark thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Clark looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wong is trying to escape the position but Clark is controlling the position.
Clark working the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Clark politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Clark prefers to stall for the moment though.
Wong tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wong seems a little lost for a moment, as Clark dominates the positioning.
Clark scoring with punches and elbows.
Clark taking a breather here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wong struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Wong's shoulder. That is not cool.
Clark tries to score with some ground and pound. Wong controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wong is letting Clark control him for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Clark dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Clark pushes Wong up against the cage in a clinch.
Wong fails to pull guard.
Clark blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Clark is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wong is defending well.
Clark wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Wong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Clark pulls guard effortlessly.
Wong wants to get up but he can't break Clark's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Clark is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clark passes to side control.
Clark landing strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Clark stalls from top position.
Clark has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wong tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Clark easily slips into full mount!
Clark manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wong to take his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
What can Wong do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Clark is continuing to stall.
I really don't envy Wong right now.
Wong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clark on the ground.
The referee is taking a good look at Wong as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Clark!

Clark has got one arm under Wong's chin. This could be trouble... Wong trying to control the other hand but Clark gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Wong has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Randy Clark!
