Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesus Huerta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joel Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin leaves Huerta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Franklin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jesus Huerta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Huerta blocks a jab.
Franklin misses with a looping left.
Franklin stuffs the takedown attempt from Huerta. Huerta gets slowly back to his feet.
Franklin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Franklin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Franklin misses with a hook.
Huerta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Franklin pinned against the cage. Franklin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Franklin feints the counter takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesus Huerta. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Huerta looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Franklin is fending him off so far but Huerta persists. Nope, Franklin circles away and we're back to standing.
A slow jab from Franklin misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franklin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Huerta.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Huerta is defended easily by Franklin.
Franklin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Huerta goes for a double leg but Franklin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Franklin continues to drive forward.

Franklin gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Huerta regains guard.

Huerta is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Franklin frees his head nicely. Oh but Huerta has switched to an armbar! Franklin is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
