The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schwertfisch misses with a straight right. Schwertfisch throws the left hand but Diamond avoids the punch easily. Schwertfisch waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Diamond. Diamond is trying hard to land a takedown here. Schwertfisch sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Diamond tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Schwertfisch swivels and escapes. Diamond moves into the clinch. Schwertfisch tries to break the clinch but Diamond is controlling the position. Schwertfisch tries to break free but Diamond pushes him back against the cage. Diamond keeps control of Schwertfisch as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Diamond looking to slow down the pace here. Schwertfisch wants to break free but Diamond has control.

Diamond is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Diamond is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diamond manages to pull guard.
Schwertfisch slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Diamond not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diamond keeping moving, preventing Schwertfisch from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diamond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diamond trying to strike off his back.

Diamond has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Diamond looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Diamond being controlled here, momentarily. Schwertfisch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Diamond throws a series of punches but Schwertfisch avoids them all with ease. Schwertfisch misses with a combination
and Diamond counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schwertfisch won't be happy with that. Diamond trying to control the action but Schwertfisch is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diamond is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Schwertfisch will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Diamond working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Diamond working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Diamond tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diamond has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Diamond trying to control the action but Schwertfisch is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwertfisch dodges the ground and pound from Diamond. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You can see the frustration on Schwertfisch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Diamond is putting a hurting on Schwertfisch here, landing some big shots from side control. Diamond is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schwertfisch has escaped the position, nice work there. The strikes coming from Diamond are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Schwertfisch regains half guard there - taking advantage of Diamond's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Schwertfisch regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Diamond. Diamond trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Schwertfisch manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Diamond managing to control the position. Diamond keeping moving, preventing Schwertfisch from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diamond is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diamond doesn't manage to clinch there - Schwertfisch circles away.
Armin Schwertfisch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schwertfisch thows a left - swing and a miss! Schwertfisch throws a looping overhand right but Diamond ducks down to avoid it. Schwertfisch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diamond circles away quickly and effectively. Schwertfisch looks to land a combination but Diamond avoids it well. Diamond fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Armin Schwertfisch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diamond defending well as Schwertfisch loads up on a big left hand. Diamond turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Schwertfisch thows a body shot but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diamond blocks a jab. Schwertfisch throws the left hand but Diamond avoids the punch easily. Schwertfisch throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Diamond counters with a slapping leg kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diamond staying out of range there. Diamond throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schwertfisch throws a lazy right hand but Diamond sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Diamond looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schwertfisch is fending him off so far but Diamond persists. Nope, Schwertfisch circles away and we're back to standing. Diamond looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Schwertfisch! Diamond thowing shots but they're missing. Diamond controlling the pace for now. Diamond punishing his opponent with strikes. Schwertfisch is looking to get to half guard. Diamond looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diamond working for a guillotine from mount but Schwertfisch is in no mood to give up. Diamond misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Diamond tries to control but Schwertfisch wriggling away. Diamond throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Schwertfisch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diamond on the ground. Diamond raining down shots from the mount! Schwertfisch is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diamond throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Diamond avoids the attempt from Schwertfisch to control. Schwertfisch is in all sorts of trouble here.
Diamond throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Schwertfisch because Diamond loaded up on that one. Diamond controlling from mount. Diamond landing strikes, looking to finish!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Diamond is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Schwertfisch can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Diamond looking to control but Schwertfisch is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Diamond with shots to the head and body - Schwertfisch looks very uncomfortable down there. Schwertfisch avoids a series of strikes thrown by Diamond.
Diamond trying to control but Schwertfisch is having none of it. Schwertfisch wants to hold on but Diamond pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diamond showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Diamond counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schwertfisch won't be happy with that. Schwertfisch is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Schwertfisch wants to control but Diamond postures up. Schwertfisch is not content to let Diamond control the position. Schwertfisch is trying to control Diamond's posture but Diamond avoids it. Diamond fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diamond has an Americana. Schwertfisch didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Diamond is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Diamond hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
