Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 54 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Tate Iii! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 38 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Braddock! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Braddock throws a right hand that Tate Iii ducks under and follows up with a left that Tate Iii also avoids with ease. Braddock misses the body punch and Tate Iii counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tate Iii. Tate Iii is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Braddock is defending well. Tate Iii manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tate Iii is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Tate Iii wants to sweep but no luck. Tate Iii is controlling Braddock's posture. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tate Iii slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Tate Iii pulls Braddock in close to his closed guard and prevents Braddock from doing any damage or advancing position.
