PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23454 p4p, 23405 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 67 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 73 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok dives in and grabs Buktot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes down on Bitok's head and hops out.
Bitok shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buktot pinned against the cage. Buktot gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buktot gets full guard.
Bitok slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bitok is working Buktot over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buktot managing to control the position.
Buktot looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bitok is one step ahead there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Buktot wants to stand but Bitok is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Buktot turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok slaps away a takedown attempt from Buktot, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And Bitok responds with a good body kick, but Buktot manages to step out the way in time.
Bitok leaves Buktot with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Bitok darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buktot is trying is best to control the position here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bitok is taking a breather. Buktot says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bitok shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Buktot but Buktot pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Buktot attempts a counter takedown but Bitok avoids it well and moves away.

Bitok gets the takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buktot keeps working.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buktot is looking for a sweep.
Bitok content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bitok has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Buktot is not content to let Bitok control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bitok slows the pace down.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Buktot looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buktot perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Buktot prevents Bitok from improving his position.
Bitok keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buktot performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Buktot closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bitok quickly recovers to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Bitok misses with a takedown attempt

and Buktot counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Buktot looking to sit in guard and control but Bitok gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bitok won't allow Buktot to sweep him here.
Buktot wants to control but Bitok passes easily into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Bitok slows the pace down in half guard.
Bitok wants to pass to mount but Buktot is defending the position.
Bitok not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok is continuing to stall.
Buktot trying to control but Bitok postures up.
Bitok controlling the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Buktot looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Bitok wants to hit a sweep here but Buktot passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Bitok there!
Bitok is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buktot sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Buktot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
