Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23130 p4p, 23350 weight class) and Wala Sapi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 67 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 57 - 50 - 12, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wala Sapi!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Libat shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sapi thinks about the counter body kick.
Libat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sapi as he jumps to the side.
Sapi is trying to counter with his kicks.
Libat displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sapi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sapi stuffs the takedown attempt from Libat. Libat gets slowly back to his feet.

Libat closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sapi circles away.
Sapi replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Libat blocks it well.

and Sapi counters with a body kick that stops Libat in his tracks momentarily.
Libat shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sapi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Libat is looking to counter with a body kick.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Libat darts in looking for a takedown but Sapi gets double underhooks and turns Libat into the cage.
Sapi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Libat.

Sapi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Libat is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sapi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sapi is trying to counter with his kicks.

Libat tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sapi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sapi steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Libat doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sapi counters with a solid body kick.

Libat gets caught napping as Sapi dives in and scores a takedown. Libat manages to retain guard.

Sapi lands a couple of digs.
Sapi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Sapi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wala Sapi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Libat darts in looking for a takedown but Sapi gets double underhooks and turns Libat into the cage.

Libat breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Libat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sapi as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Sapi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Higanti Libat. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sapi is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Libat tries to roll over but Sapi keeps him under control.
Sapi throws a strike but Libat avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Sapi's corner is telling him to maintain position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sapi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Libat is keeping the position for now.
Libat pulls Sapi in to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sapi shoots in looking for a takedown but Libat manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sapi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Libat counters with a quick kick to the body but Sapi blocks it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sapi enables Libat to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sapi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sapi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Libat is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sapi pulls Libat in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Libat trying to control the position from guard on top but Sapi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sapi pulls Libat in close to his closed guard and prevents Libat from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Higanti Libat will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Sapi feints and as Libat raises his hands in defense, Sapi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sapi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Sapi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Libat has his hands on Sapi's head, controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sapi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Libat with a poor takedown
and Sapi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Sapi dives in and scores a takedown into Libat's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Libat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sapi's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sapi is looking to work some ground and pound but Libat has wrist control.
Libat looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Sapi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Libat is pulling down on Sapi's head. It's preventing any offense from Sapi, at least for the moment.
Sapi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sapi shoots in looking for a takedown but Libat manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sapi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Libat counters with a quick kick to the body but Sapi blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Libat gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wala Sapi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sapi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
