This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 119 wins and 80 losses; Kurt Diesel! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 4 losses; Alexander Borgia! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Borgia darts in and clinches Diesel up against the cage. Borgia is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Borgia has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Diesel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Borgia gets control of Diesel's arms and successfully pulls guard. Borgia will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Diesel postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Borgia can't keep his opponent in guard - Diesel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Borgia is trying to maintain the position but Diesel is very close to passing his half guard. Borgia makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Borgia. Diesel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diesel sitting in guard here, content to control.

Borgia tries to bench press Diesel off him but Diesel keeps the position. Borgia is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Diesel's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Borgia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Diesel performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Diesel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Diesel looking to control but Borgia is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Borgia working to try and regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Borgia sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Diesel is controlling the pace.

Diesel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Borgia is controlling Diesel's trapped leg to prevent Diesel from advancing to side control. Diesel keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Diesel is trying to control. Borgia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Borgia is looking for a sweep. Diesel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Diesel controlling from mount. Borgia wants to control but Diesel is having none of it. Borgia is looking to improve his position but Diesel isn't that keen on the idea.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Diesel trying to control but Borgia is having none of it. Diesel fails to advance to Borgia's back.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Borgia is trying to reverse the position but instead Diesel has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: Diesel (12) vs (0) Borgia Borgia trying to control the hands but Diesel breaks the grip. Borgia is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Diesel is staying active. Diesel is riding his opponent, not letting Borgia buck him off. Borgia wants to control his opponent's hands but Diesel gets his hands free. Diesel really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Borgia.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Borgia just trying to survive but Diesel is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Diesel is hanging on to Borgia's back as he tries to escape.
Borgia manages to reverse the position and now he's in Diesel's guard. Nice work there by Borgia.
