Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Young (ranked 1680 p4p, 3582 weight class) and James Dalton (ranked 179 p4p, 340 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Young! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, James Dalton! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dalton looks to throw the jab but Young is out of range. Young looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Young throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dalton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Young's head backwards. Dalton throws a lazy right hand but Young sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Young throws a body punch but Dalton moves out of range. Young connects with a nice looking jab.
Dalton throws a big shot that misses. Dalton misses with an uppercut. Young saw that one coming. Young lands with an overhand left. Dalton scores with a sloppy right hand. Young should have avoided that one. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Dalton tries to clinch but Young is having none of it. Some wild striking there from Young.
Dalton gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Young takes a jab right on the kisser.
Dalton lands with a hook. Young tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Dalton just misses with a punch to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Young takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Dalton throws a jab when Young was well out of range. Dalton looks to land a right hand but Young moved out of range. Young misses with a looping right. Dalton bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Young! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Young is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Young keeping moving, preventing Dalton from controlling successfully. Oh Young is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dalton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Young swivels though and keeps the full guard. Young seems to have got his legs back now. Dalton wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving. Dalton wants to pass the guard but Young is keeping the position. Dalton stops Young from standing up. Dalton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dalton is looking to work some ground and pound but Young has wrist control. Young keeping full guard, as Dalton tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dalton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Dalton trying to control the position but Young is working away. Young prevents Dalton from moving into mount. Dalton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Young is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Dalton misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dalton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Young stops Dalton from passing to mount. Dalton keeps trying to improve his position. Young regains half guard there - taking advantage of Dalton's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Dalton slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Young won't allow Dalton to pass to mount. Dalton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Dalton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Dalton thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Dalton tries to control but Young wriggling away. Young stops Dalton from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Young takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
James Dalton dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Left hook, right uppercut from Young. Young stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Young wants it to stay on the feet. Young gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Dalton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Young manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Dalton throwing strikes but missing. Dalton is looking to pass into half guard but Young pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Young is in guard. Young preventing the sweep. Dalton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dalton trying to control but Young is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dalton passes into half guard. Dalton is looking to advance position but Young won't allow it. Dalton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dalton wants to pass to mount but Young is defending the position. Dalton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dalton is working for a kimura but Young is defending it quite comfortably.

Dalton passes the guard and advances to mount! Young is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Dalton misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Dalton wants to take Young's back but he can't do it this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dalton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Young is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dalton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
James Dalton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round! Young uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Young misses with a head kick.

Dalton with a hook. Dalton scores with a crisp jab that stopped Young in his tracks. Young lands with a nice body punch. Young moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Dalton misses with a right hand and Dalton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Young closes the distance and lands a one-two. James Dalton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dalton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dalton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Young sneaks out the side door and pushes Dalton away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Dalton misses with a straight left. Dalton connects with a jab. A punch combination from Young misses. Dalton closes the distance and clinches. Young is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Dalton looking for a takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dalton tries for a takedown but Young manages to get underhooks.
Dalton gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Dalton is looking for a takedown. Eddie Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Dalton. Dalton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Young fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dalton misses with a hook. Young ducked under it nicely. Young moves away from the strike by Dalton. James Dalton seems to be getting the better of the standup. Young looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Young throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

and Young cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Young with a hook. The fighters circle, before Young throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Dalton's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Young lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
