Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 2664 p4p, 3396 weight class) and Makoto Takana (ranked 348 p4p, 415 weight class). The key to victory for Jon Jones has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Makoto Takana! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takana throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jones is looking to counter the offense by Takana and move into the clinch. Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Takana looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Takana manages to get back to half guard. Jones prevents Takana from improving his position. Takana wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takana is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones seems to be looking for submissions.
Takana holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Takana is trying to maintain the position but Jones is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Takana has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though. Takana is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Takana tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones is nestled in close to Takana, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Takana moves into full guard.
Jones looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Takana is retaining full guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Takana keeps moving. Jones wants to pass the guard but Takana is keeping the position. Takana is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Jones landing some decent shots from guard. Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones landing with the ground and pound. Takana pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Takana works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to stand but Takana has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Takana working a defensive guard here.
Takana keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Takana preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones won't allow Takana to sweep him here. Takana told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Takana keeps trying to improve his position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A looping hook to the body misses from Takana. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet. Takana rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takana thuds his right hand into Jones's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Jones scores with a jab to the body. Takana misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Takana clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage. Takana tries a knee to the head but Jones blocks it.
Takana tries to circle away but Jones has him pinned against the cage. Takana wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Jones has Takana pressed against the cage, preventing Takana from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Takana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Takana throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Takana misses with a wild body shot. Jones looking to score a takedown here. Takana is defending well but Jones drives through and ends up in Takana's guard. Takana manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jones clinches up with Takana and pushes him back against the cage. Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takana can do to turn this around? Takana tries to circle away but Jones has him pinned against the cage. Jones tries to throw a body punch but Takana avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Jones. Takana is defending well against a takedown attempt. Jones misses with a short punch on the inside. Jones lands an elbow just above Takana 's eye. Jones has Takana pressed against the cage, preventing Takana from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Takana tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position. Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Takana uses from the top position. Takana gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Jones blocks a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Takana, which made it look bad. Jones pushes Takana up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones lands an elbow that stopped Takana in his tracks for a moment. Takana throws a knee to the head but misses.

Takana has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment. Jones lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Makoto Takana has been cut. Takana lands a shot to the body. Takana using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jones has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Jones throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Takanas head. Jones creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Takana's defenses. Takana is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Takana. Jones manages to pull guard.
Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takana can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones looking for a guillotine here but Takana defends easily.
Jon Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takana stands up and waves to Jones to follow him. Jones throws out a loose jab but Takana uses good head movement to avoid it. Takana works the jab nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Takana misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely. Takana throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a lovely shot to the body. Jones wants to clinch. Jones tries to clinch up but Takana circles away and keeps his distance. Makoto Takana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takana throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a series of punches but Takana moves out of range. Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Takana.
Nice body punch from Jones. Jones throws a nice looking combination but Takana bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jones thows a left - swing and a miss! Jones with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Takana to score with a decent uppercut. Jones misses the jab. Jones takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. A slow jab from Takana misses its intended target. Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Takana throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Takana takes an elbow to the forehead. Takana pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jones misses with a takedown and Takana counters with a stiff right hand. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round! Takana swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones. Jones is looking to wear down Takana with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Takana tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range. Jones misses with a straight left. Takana tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Takana. A left lands for Takana. Takana misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming. Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Takana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Jones trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Takana controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Takana wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Takana pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard. Jones trying to hold on to Takana's head to control him but Takana postures up.
Jones is not content to let Takana control the position. Takana perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Jones looking for submissions off his back. Takana trying to pass the guard but Jones defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takana wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy. Takana is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Takana seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jones is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Takana lands a jab. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Takana falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Makoto Takana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones trying to control the action but Takana is working from the bottom. Takana moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Takana is retaining full guard. Takana wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment. Takana keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones scoring with some ground and pound. Takana throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
And that's the end of the fight! Makoto Takana comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
