Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Mendes (ranked 1033 p4p, 1019 weight class) and Stevie Janowski (ranked 154 p4p, 153 weight class). Mendes comes to the cage accompanied by Future - Last Breath. Janowski has chosen Going Down as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Janowski!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janowski lands a right hook to the body.
Mendes closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Janowski takes one to the chin there.
Janowski connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Janowski jabs at Mendes's body.

Mendes dives in and scores a takedown into Janowski's guard.

Mendes is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We've been hearing that Mendes has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Janowski has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Purpose Martial Arts Academy. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Janowski keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully.

Janowski trying to keep a closed guard but Mendes is proving a slippery customer.
Janowski is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Janowski avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mendes controls from within his opponent's guard.
Janowski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendes's guard.


Janowski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mendes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Janowski has managed to get both his arms back between Mendes's legs - danger averted.
Mendes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Janowski manages to get himself to full guard.

Janowski is trying to keep Mendes in close.
Janowski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mendes throws an elbow that misses. Janowski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mendes's guard. Nice move by Janowski!

Mendes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Janowski should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mendes has tightened it up now! Janowski should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Paulo Mendes!
Paulo Mendes was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
