Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Blanchard (ranked 2169 p4p, 1459 weight class) and Tyrese Mercado (ranked 210 p4p, 148 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Blanchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tyrese Mercado!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanchard misses with a hook. Mercado ducked under it nicely.
Mercado looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Mercado misses with a straight left.
Mercado slips under a jab from Blanchard.
Mercado throws out a counter right but Blanchard avoids it with no problem.
Blanchard definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Blanchard walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Blanchard throws the left hand but Mercado avoids the punch easily.

Blanchard fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mercado manages to avoid it.
Mercado swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Blanchard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A little jabbing left from Mercado on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Mercado counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Andrew Blanchard has been cut.
Mercado takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Mercado moves out of range as Blanchard strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Blanchard. Mercado does a little dance to reset his feet.
Blanchard throws out a loose jab but Mercado uses good head movement to avoid it.

Blanchard is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Mercado's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Mercado scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Blanchard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Blanchard throws a hook but Mercado blocks it.
Blanchard swings widly with a right hand

Mercado drops Blanchard with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Blanchard looks back up at him and smiles so Mercado waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Blanchard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Blanchard feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mercados jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Blanchard misses with a shot to the body
and Mercado counters with a big left hand that crumples Blanchard! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

In his post fight interview, Tyrese Mercado started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
