Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Sartre (ranked 892 p4p, 1964 weight class) and Max House (ranked 133 p4p, 275 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicholas Sartre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max House! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sartre scores with a hook to the body. House takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Sartre looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
House takes a swing at Sartre's ribcage but misses. Sartre steps to the side to avoid the strikes from House. House tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sartre was well out of range. Poor timing from House. Sartre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from House. House takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Sartre throws a nice inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sartre throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent House stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. House with a hook. House tests Sartre's chin there with a solid looking shot. House has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. House fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sartre manages to avoid it.

Sartre closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sartre lands in his opponent's guard. House is trying to keep Sartre in close.
Sartre engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. House really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sartre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. House keeping moving, preventing Sartre from controlling successfully.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. House has control of Sartre's left arm, preventing Sartre from doing any damage. House is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as House holds on and takes a little breather. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Sartre passes into half guard. House has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sartre is working away from the top position though.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sartre fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt House. House misses the shot to the body.
Sartre bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sartre controlling the pace for now. House is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Sartre with good strikes from the mount here! Sartre trying to control but he's not successful this time.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. We've been hearing good reports from Sartre's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Sartre throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for House because Sartre loaded up on that one. House tries to hold on but Sartre pushes him away.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sartre prevents House from improving his position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. House trying to control here.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. House waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sartre. House moves forwards but Sartre connects with a nice, crisp jab. Sartre misses with a right hand and House counters with a nice body shot.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. House defending well as Sartre loads up on a big left hand. House ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Sartre scores with a jab to the head.
House misses with a right hand and Sartre cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. House's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sartre under the eye. House's corner calls for a 1-2. House obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. House just misses with a punch to the body.

It looked like Sartre wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. House throws a jab but it's blocked by Sartre. Sartre shoots in but no luck this time. House looks like he wants to counter punch here. House swings widly with a right hand
and Sartre counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Sartre throws a lazy right hand but House sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Sartre will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Sartre counters with a straight right hand. House lands with a hook. Sartre tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Max House is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sartre throws an ugly left hook that misses
and House makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Sartre lunges at House with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by House's hand. Sartre throws a hook but House blocks it. House let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as House blocks the leg kick.
House looks like he wants to counter punch here. A big left from Sartre misses. Sartre bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of House's head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sartre throws a low kick but House moves out of range easily. House unleashes a big counter combination but Sartre bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Sartre looks to land a right hand but House moved out of range. Sartre lands with a kick to the temple. House shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Sartre shoots for a takedown but House saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicholas Sartre. Sartre thuds his right hand into House's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. House misses with a looping right. A little feinted left hand from Sartre on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Sartre scores with a jab. Sartre is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Sartre feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Houses jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Sartre looks to land a right hand but House moved out of range. House just misses with a punch to the body.
House has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. The fighters circle momentarily. Sartre darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Nicholas Sartre will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Sartre tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but House defends well and Sartre ends up having to push House into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. House blocking some punches.

A nice right hand lands inside from House. House is trying to break the clinch but Sartre is controlling him. Sartre tries to throw a body punch but House avoids it by throwing Sartre back against the cage. Sartre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as House walks away with a smile on his face. Sartre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A low kick lands for Sartre.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. House moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The fighters circling - House throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Sartre thows a left - swing and a miss! Sartre throws a solid leg kick but House takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Sartre. House swings widly with a right hand
and Sartre counters with a stiff right hand. Sartre tried to score with a low kick but House checks it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! House checks a leg kick nicely. Sartre throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. House looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. House's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Sartre is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by House. Sartre drops back, looking for a kneebar! House looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. House looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from House!
House taking a break here but Sartre is having none of it and regains half guard. Sartre is refusing to be controlled, as House sits in half guard.

House moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Sartre. Nicholas Sartre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Sartre sneaks back into half guard. Sartre is concentrating on defense, preventing House from advancing position. Sartre regains full guard. Nicely done. House looking to sit in guard and control but Sartre gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nicholas Sartre. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sartre, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
