The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Laperierre closes the distance and pushes Gracie back into the ropes. Laperierre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gracie just stands there and leans against the ropes. Gracie gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Laperierre regains guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gracie working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Laperierre can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Laperierre is holding on for dear life with his legs. Laperierre wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.

Gracie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Gracie.
