The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. OBrien closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. OBrien pulls Shalit into guard.
OBrien is trying to control the position from the bottom.
OBrien has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. OBrien is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. OBrien seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. OBrien keeping moving, preventing Shalit from controlling successfully. Shalit slips nicely into half guard. OBrien is controlling Shalit's trapped leg to prevent Shalit from advancing to side control. OBrien tries to get to full guard but Shalit has control of the leg. Shalit wants to control but OBrien is keeping him busy. Shalit performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. OBrien is looking for a sweep. Shalit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Shalit trying to control the action but OBrien is working from the bottom. OBrien has a hand on Shalit's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Shalit takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Score +3 for passing guard: Shalit (3) vs (0) OBrien OBrien tries to reverse the position but Shalit maintains control. Shalit swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
