Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bostic (ranked 2014 p4p, 3235 weight class) and Kieth Stokes (ranked 208 p4p, 306 weight class). Bostic comes to the cage accompanied by Move. Kieth Stokes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Bostic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kieth Stokes! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stokes cracks Bostic with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bostic looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Bostic throws a leg kick but Stokes checks it. Bostic drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. A looping hook to the body misses from Stokes. Bostic does a little dance to reset his feet. Bostic was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Bostic throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Bostic jabbing away but nothing is landing. Stokes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bostic as he jumps to the side. Stokes throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Bostic pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Stokes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bostic. Stokes swings for the body but Bostic moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and Bostic tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Stokes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bostic moves away. Bostic avoids a lazy jab quite easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bostic swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Stokes takes the fight into the clinch. Stokes lands with a short shot to the head. Stokes gets through Bostic's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A head punch blocked on the inside by Bostic. Stokes has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bostic is trying to keep an underhook but Stokes manages to get the takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Stokes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Stokes looking to pass the half guard. Stokes passes to side control. Bostic can't do much from the bottom here. Bostic stops Stokes from passing to mount. Stokes is looking to take a break and control but Bostic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stokes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Bostic tries to buck Stokes off but Stokes is having none of it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Stokes happy to just control the position for now. Stokes trying to control the position but Bostic is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. and Stokes counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Bostic pushes Stokes off but Stokes dives into side control.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Stokes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stokes feints and as Bostic raises his hands in defense, Stokes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. My spies in 3Band MMA inform me that Stokes has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Nice body punch from Bostic. Bostic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bostic scoring with punches to the head and body. Bostic postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Stokes working a defensive guard here.

Stokes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Stokes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bostic keeps working. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stokes in particular looking to stall. Bostic gets full guard. Bostic pulls Stokes in to control the position. Bostic keeping moving, preventing Stokes from controlling successfully. Stokes won't allow Bostic to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bostic is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stokes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Bostic moves out of range as Stokes strikes. Bostic misses with a jab, cross combination.

This has been an exciting period of action! Stokes loads up on a big right hand but Bostic slips the punch. Bostic throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bostic gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stokes to score an easy takedown into full guard. Stokes throwing strikes but missing. Michael Bostic has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kieth Stokes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stokes wants to control from the top but Bostic keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Kieth Stokes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Stokes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
