Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bailey Downs (ranked 4110 p4p, 4133 weight class) and Arai Shuji (ranked 330 p4p, 333 weight class). The key to victory for Bailey Downs has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Arai Shuji!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downs tries to clinch there but Shuji circles away.
Shuji attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Downs missing with a left hand there. Shuji was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Downs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shuji paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Downs enables Shuji to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Downs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Shuji closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shuji has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shuji is taking a breather. Downs says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Arai Shuji is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Shuji seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
